Beryl Bayer Welcomes you to Iron Horse and Equine Art |
|
Artist Beryl Bayer earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Cornell University awarded in 1965. Subsequently, Beryl, residing in New York City, applied her artistry to textile design and production. A decade later Beryl relocated to southern Florida, and established a design studio devoted to tapestry and needlepoint. After yet another decade, Beryl chose a career change: Nursing. The change was prompted by her interest in science, and compassion for people. She retired from nursing in 1998 and resumed her art. Nursing had left its permanent mark. Her art now reveals her experience with people in crisis and pathos; it brings life and expression to her painting. Mood, energy and excitement are her forte. Beryl now lives in rural north central Florida: horse country, where back trails and quiet roads are the playgrounds for her favorite subjects: horses. But don't jump to conclusions. Yes, Beryl paints flesh and blood horses, free-running, rider-bearing, or carriage-bound; but, of late, Beryl, redefining her art once again, has turned her talents to paint the dynamic tensions of iron horses: motorcycles and the men and women that ride them. Beryl paints with exaggerated movement and color to express the dynamics of seated or harnessed horses, hoofed or steel-wheeled, and their bond with their drivers. Her painting captures power, , form, and movement in her subject's leather, iron, and muscle. Beryl's works are or have been displayed by the Miami Watercolor Society, the Gold Coast Watercolor Society, the Florida Watercolor Society, the American Academy of Equine Art, and the University of Texas. She has been featured in Ocala Style, Horse Country, and Driving West magazines. Her paintings are owned internationally, and her commissions, to date, can be seen in many private Ocala, Florida collections. |
